Ostara

Ostara is coming, those first signs of the new spring that is getting closer. Warmer, longer days! A time of rejoicing, feasting and celebration. The spring equinox happens March 21st, 2010. During this same basic time frame the Christians celebrate Easter, and the Jews celebrate Passover. Eostre the Germanic Goddess of spring. A time of planting. Although the original Celts did not celebrate this holiday they did honor the changing of the seasons. At this vernal equinox, the first day of spring both day and night are equal bringing balance. All the earth is awakening from it's slumber of the cold nights of winter. All of nature is renewing itself. This is a wonderful time of color, family and friends celebrating the fullness of life itself. Take the time to plan to attend an Ostara ritual and feast in your area and if there isn't one, then start one with your friends and family. You'll find it to be a wonderful time of the year to look forward too.

  1. Pagans, too, are waking from a long winter's sleep. Blogs are busier, postings are more frequent, and gardening sites see more traffic. I personally, looking forward to my Pagan brethen blooming, may we bloom in colors.
